LightBurn 2.0 Common Issues and Fixes

  1. High-DPI / Scaling Chaos

Symptoms: gigantic icons, blurry text, or a black canvas on 4-K or high-scaling displays.
Fix: Edit → Settings → Display: disable the two High-DPI check-boxes, set icon size to Normal and font size to Default. If Windows overrides are active, clear “Override high-DPI scaling” under Properties → Compatibility → Change High DPI Settings. Updating to 2.0.01 removes the bug. [patch notes]

  2. Lost Window Layouts / Blank Start-up Screen

Hold Shift while launching to force LightBurn to ignore saved layouts and load the default workspace. If the window is still blank, delete (or rename) prefs.ini; it rebuilds automatically on the next start. Version 2.0.01 preserves layouts going forward.

  3. Collapsed or Hidden Toolbar Icons

Click the chevron « in a horizontal toolbar (or the down-arrow in a vertical stack) to pop out hidden tools; shape tools now live behind the tiny triangle beside the last-used shape. Widen or maximise the main window, or drag the toolbar splitter, and disable Beginner Mode (Edit → Settings) if it’s on. Reset with Window → Reset to Default Layout (or hold Shift while launching), then Window → Save Layout once you’re happy.

  4. Incremental Move / Jog Buttons Inactive

Work-around: briefly toggle Continuous Jog off/on or reinstall v1.7. Definitive fix: install v2.0.01, which restores step-jog commands. [patch notes]

  5. Rotary Indicator & xTool Jogging Oddities

Missing rotary “enabled” icon, xTool heads returning to X0 Y0 between layers, and Fire-button power mis-reads are all corrected in 2.0.01—just update. [patch notes]

  6. “Please Re-Enter Your License Key” Loop

Open Help → License Management → Deactivate, whitelist LightBurn.exe in your firewall, then reactivate—or free a seat in the online license portal if you’re at the activation limit. [docs]

  7. Operating System Support

Starting with 2.0, LightBurn officially supports only Windows 10 + and macOS 11 +. Linux builds are legacy-only and will not receive future fixes. [system requirements]

Fastest overall cure: install the 2.0.01 patch first—it cleans up the biggest launch-day issues and is the version LightBurn support backs.
